TV Shows of my childhood

Growing up as a child in the 80s was lots of fun, loads of excellent tv series.

Thundercats, He-Man and She-ra for the 80s. Then there were Gummi Bears, inspector gadget, darkwing duck, ducktales and gargoyles. For older children there was Buffy the vampire slayer, Angel, Roswell and Star Trek. Apart from Star Trek The Original series I have recorded every episode of season onto VHS tape for my dad. From The Next Generation to Enterprise without any breaks. When I was a teenager, always looked forward to sit up all night to not only watching but recording all the Star Trek series as I was always really good at making sure Perfect sound, picture and absolutely no breaks.

Ode De Nuska

My comrade, my best friend.

My little buddy, my pet dog.

All these titles, you were Nuska to me.

You were excellent company for me.

Until mum and dad came home from work.

Miss you so much now that you have gone to doggy heaven to be with our brothers Casper, Casper 2 and Snowy as well as our sister Sasha.

Run through those fields of snow forever, until we meet again.

Movies and Convention

I not only love sci fi tv series and movies but I also love horror movies.  We are going to the big Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas at the Rio Hotel, we can’t wait. I have even picked the guests that I want to meet. As presents for both Fathers Day and Mothers Day I am letting both my parents to pick a guest of their choice to meet.

Star Trek Conventions

This year was the first time that we went to Las Vegas for a Star Trek Convention which was being held at the Rio Suites & Casino Hotel. There were lots of people there at the convention both fans and guests. I already had chosen the guests that I wanted to meet there, plus two extra guests.  It was excellent and all the guests that I met were both friendly and kind.

We listened to some of guests talking, on one of the days after listening William Shatner talk they brought out someone who wanted to talk about a new TVs series that they were hoping to make. When the guest said that they brought a close friend to talk about the new series.

As the doors onstage opened and the special guest walked out onto the stage everyone cheered and clapped as they knew who it was. Even the cameras were out taking pictures and filming. It was Sir Patrick Stewart. When he said the words “Picard is back!!!”, everyone in the room clapped and cheered. That there really made our day let alone our year.  It was a complete shock and surprise for everyone in a good way.

The guest that I got to meet this year in both Las Vegas and Birmingham were:

4. John Billingsley – Doctor Phlox – Enterprise

6. Doug Jones – Commander Saru – Discovery

7. Tim DeZarn – Various Characters – Various Star Trek Series and Films

I got photos and autographs with the guests that met and also got a signed photo of Tim DeZarn. I got two selfies with Doug Jones. All the guests that I met were both friendly and kind. Many of guests that were in the convention in Las Vegas we saw walking among the crowd around the hotel which was nice to see and experience.  You wouldn’t see that in the uk. For us as Star Trek Fans it was a once in a lifetime opportunity.  So far I have met 21 Star Trek Actors in my lifetime. One bit of advice from me that I would give to anyone who is attending a convention is:

1. Budget your money so you have enough to pay for photo ops, autographs and any merchandise that you wish to buy.

2. Choose the guests that you wish to meet in advance.

3. Have a list of alternative guests that you could meet in case any of the guests you have already chose to meet cancel.

My little Robin Friend

Hello my little robin friend, the one I love so dear.  When winter comes along with the snow.  The babies are so fat while the parents are so thin from being run ragged to find food for the kids.  I miss you so much when you leave as the snow goes away when winter becomes Spring.  I miss our wee chats and dining’s out.  Please come back next winter my little robin friend.
